 Sylvia  Clute

Sylvia is the President of New Founders Press, Ltd., a publishing company whose mission is to promote transpartisan public policy at home and abroad, as well as the Chair of the Board of Meta United, a non-profit organization whose mission is to build grass-roots support for positive public policy.

Sylvia was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal from 1965 – 1967. She studied French at the Institute of European Studies, Paris, France; earned a B.A. in Political Science, an M.A. in Public Administration at UC Berkeley, then earned her Juris Doctor at Boston U. School Of 2nd MA in Public Administration at Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

From 1975 until 2003 Sylvia had a private law practice in Richmond, Va. handling civil litigation in jury and bench trials. She is a Virginia Fellow, a distinction reserved to no more than 1% of the Virginia State Bar. Her civic activities have included serving on the Virginia Public School Authorityand as a member of the Goochland County Planning Commission.

She was the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of Women's Bank, Richmond, Virginia. A longtime citizen activist, working to promote legislative reform in diverse areas of the law, Sylvia has been involved directly with citizen groups interested in issues of public policy, advising and guiding numerous efforts.

A Candidate for Attorney General of Virginia in the Democratic Primary in 2000, Sylvia also ran for U.S. Senate in the Democratic Primary in 1994. Author of Destiny in 1997, Sylvia’s most recent book is  Destiny Unveiled, an expanded version of Destiny, placing it in the post 9-11 era, a story about the journey from fear to love in the world of politics and policy is now available at www.destinyunveiled.com, www.newfounderspress.com and www.amazon.com.  Sylvia, who is also a raw foods chef exploring new recipes to help her family, will be presenting her workshop "How To Create World Peace Without Leaving Home" at The Raw Spirit Festival.
