Maureen Veto-Slater
Bio:
Maureen currently lives in Kansas City, Missouri, where she is a health motivator and raw meetup organizer in the center of "Cow-Town" USA!
Her grass-roots activism has cultivated a surge of interest in the living food lifestyle and today, she leads one of the largest raw food meetup groups in the country,
In 2002, Maureen became suicidal after realizing that her life had become toxic and meaningless. Once considered a "health-nut," the super-fit mother of four failed in her struggle to balance and maintain the needs of family and the demands of her career.
The insurmountable stress eventually led her to seek medical help. It wasn't long before she was caught in the cycle of prescription medication, side-effects, diagnosis, AND more drugs. Medication "fog" left her unable to think rationally which made it easier for her to believe her doctor's diagnosis.
By the year 2002, she was addicted to over 15 prescription drugs and her health deteriorated rapidly. She detached from those that she loved and lost all passion for life. Maureen no longer recognized herself in the mirror, and she stopped getting on the scale when her weight reached 200 lbs. Bedridden, attached to a catheter, and using a walker, she no longer valued life and decided to check out.
Instead, she awoke in the hospital both literally and spiritually. A shift of consciousness allowed her to reconnect to her authentic self and take back control of her life. Her determination led her to rediscover natural health and true joy. By making FOOD her medicine, Maureen has regained complete and vibrant health.
Now 51, Maureen shares her story with others, encouraging them to take responsibility for their own health. She is living proof that each diagnosis was only true when she believed it to be. She firmly believes the journey to health begins in the mind.
